Taylor Swift Hits Unprecedented 100 Million Monthly Spotify Listeners
A new landmark has been reached in the realm of digital music as pop sensation Taylor Swift has shattered yet another glass ceiling. The singer-songwriter became the first female artist in Spotify history to reach the colossal number of 100 million monthly listeners. Tay announced the news via her social media platforms on August 29, not failing to acknowledge this feat as "Queen behavior."
Swift leaped ahead in this digital race, surpassing juggernauts like Bad Bunny, who clocks in at 80 million listeners, and Ed Sheeran boasting 77 million. Only The Weeknd holds a higher spot with 110+ million monthly listeners.
This distinction became feasible particularly after Swift launched her third re-recorded album, "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" this July. The album achieved the top position in the Billboard 200 with an awesome 716K album-equivalent units sold. But that's not all - Swift's latest album also landed her the honor of being the first woman with four albums concurrently in the top 10 of Billboard's album chart, making her one of only three artists ever to achieve this.
While concluding her U.S. Eras Tour at L.A.'s SoFi Stadium, Swift surprised her fans with another announcement. "1989 (Taylor's Version)" is all set to captivate this fall's music wave. This news was not much of a shocker for her fans, who had been keenly noticing her array of Easter eggs indicating the re-recorded album's October 27 release date.
Swift's Eras Tour will continue into the fall of 2024. Recently, she announced the addition of 15 more North American dates.
With each passing day, Taylor Swift continues to redefine the contours of global music, breaking records, and flaunting her unique brand of "Queen behavior." She's not just a household name but a trailblazer influencing the future of the music industry every step of the way.
